I create technology content, build software, run the businesses around both, and keep learning.

014 worlds

Not four careers. One loop, run continuously, with each world feeding the next. Scroll to travel, or poke whatever is floating there.

01.1 · Media

Technology content on smartphones, gadgets, software and AI.

I make videos about the technology people actually live with: phones, laptops, consoles, the software in between, and the AI arriving whether we asked for it or not. Reviews, explainers, and experiments that try to answer the question underneath the spec sheet. Is this any good, and who is it for?

01.2 · Software

Software products, AI experiments, infrastructure.

Shipping software is how I test whether I actually understood something. Native Mac apps, AI-assisted video tooling, recommendation systems, and the unglamorous infrastructure that keeps them running: storage, networking, automation.

01.3 · Business

Businesses across technology, media and digital products.

A product nobody can find is a hobby. Operating means the parts that don't photograph well: positioning, pricing, distribution, support, and deciding what not to build. illBytes is the structure that holds the software side of this together.

01.4 · Continuous

BSc Computing & IT, England, and an HND in Electrical/Electronics, Nigeria.

A BSc in Computing and Information Technology at the University of Derby, England, and an HND in Electrical/Electronics, Nigeria. The qualification is the structured half. The other half is reading papers, breaking a homelab, and rebuilding it properly.

Selected rather than complete. A media brand, a company, and the software underneath it.

  1. Technology media

    Technology explained, reviewed and explored.

The media brand, and the longest-running thing I've built. Smartphones, gadgets, consumer electronics and technology explainers for an audience that has grown past 400,000 people across platforms. Not my whole identity, but a loud and honest part of it.

  2. Technology company

The parent company behind the software.

The structure that holds the products. illBytes exists to ship software that respects attention: tools that remove clutter rather than add to it, and earn a place in someone's daily workflow instead of demanding one.

  3. Software / macOS

Find what is quietly filling your Mac.

A native Mac app that surfaces oversized files and duplicates so you can reclaim disk space deliberately, without handing control to an opaque optimizer that decides what matters on your behalf.

  4. Software / Web

Creator gear, matched to budget and intent.

Tell it what you make and what you can spend. It returns a coherent kit of camera, audio and lighting that works together, and sends you somewhere to buy it. Built to end the research paralysis that sits between wanting to start and starting.

  5. ClipsetSoftware / AI

    AI-assisted editing for DaVinci Resolve.

Editing is mostly searching. Clipset applies vision and speech models to footage so finding the take, the line, and the shot you half-remember stops eating the day.

Based in Abuja

I'm fascinated by how technology moves from an idea in someone's head into something people can actually use.

I'm Oscar Frank, a technology creator and entrepreneur based in Abuja, Nigeria. I've spent the last several years building an audience around technology while exploring software, AI, infrastructure and business. YouTube selected me for Black Voices in 2021; in 2023 I won Pulse's Tech Influencer of the Year.

My work sits in four worlds at once: making content, building software, running the businesses around it, and learning enough to keep going. Oscar Frank is the umbrella. Oscarmini is one of the things underneath it.

When I'm not creating or building, I'm usually taking something apart to find out how it works, or thinking about what to build next.
